At Romero’s Farms, coffee is more than just caffeine. Coffee is the representation of dedication, tradition, legacy, and the harmony between nature’s craft and human passion. Each cup of coffee carries the story of countless hands, from cultivation, processing, and to the final sip, made from hard work and love ❤
Romero’s Heritage Coffee Roasters
Every great cup of coffee carries a story.
Ours begins in the rugged mountains of Honduras, where the Romero family first discovered the meaning of hard work, humility, and hope. Generations before us tended to coffee trees with patience and pride, planting not only seeds but dreams for a better tomorrow.
Life, however, was never easy. Poverty and hardship shaped our days, and there were moments when we lost nearly everything our land, our home, and the comfort of stability. Yet one thing remained unshaken: our hope. Like the coffee tree that grows stronger after every season, we chose to rise again. From the ashes of loss, we rebuilt, planting new trees on higher ground in the mountains of Comayagua, at La Montaña de Indio, one of Honduras’s most treasured coffee regions.
For our father, coffee was never just work it was passion. With his bare hands he planted the first seeds around our humble adobe home, beginning with ten trees, then one hundred, then thousands. What started as survival soon became a legacy. Each bean grown was a testament to sacrifice, love, and resilience. My mother, the heart of our family, taught us that “hope is the last thing you lose.” Her words carried us through countless nights when hunger filled our stomachs but hope filled our hearts.
From there, our story stretched far beyond Honduras. My father made the brave journey to the United States, working tirelessly to provide for us, while we rebuilt our farm back home. Through hardship, displacement, and countless obstacles, we carried our heritage with us the unshakable belief that coffee could be more than a crop. It could be a bridge between our past and our future.
Today, that bridge has reached California. I, Javier Romero, the son of coffee farmers, am honored to continue this legacy through Romero’s Heritage Coffee Roasters. After years of working in coffee fields, learning the craft of roasting, and understanding the art of brewing, I knew it was time to share our family’s story through every cup.
Here in Marina, California, we roast not only the coffee we grow in Honduras but also the harvests of our humble neighbors, whose livelihoods depend on this sacred crop. Each bag represents more than beans it represents generations of sacrifice, resilience, and love.
Romero’s Heritage Coffee is not just coffee. It is our family’s story in every cup a story of hope carried from the hills of Honduras to the coasts of California. A story we now share with you.

My Story – Javier Romero
I grew up in Honduras, in a family that knew sacrifice more intimately than comfort. As one of six children, I experienced both the beauty and the hardship of life in the mountains days when food was scarce, nights when hope was all we had, and mornings when I watched my father walk miles just to earn enough to provide for us. Coffee was always at the center of our lives not only as work, but as a dream we carried deep within us.
At a young age, I felt the pain of separation as my father left for the United States in search of opportunity. Eventually, I followed, leaving behind the mountains of Comayagua and the coffee trees that shaped my childhood. My journey to San Francisco was filled with uncertainty and struggle. I worked long hours as a dishwasher while attending high school, learning English, and holding onto the dream of a better future.
Many doubted me, saying I would never achieve what I imagined. But I carried my family’s resilience in my heart. With the support of mentors who believed in me, I earned scholarships, went to college, and pushed myself beyond the limits of circumstance. Even while studying and playing collegiate soccer, coffee never left my mind. It was my heritage, my identity, and my calling.
Determined to master the craft, I immersed myself in the world of specialty coffee. I learned brewing behind the bar, roasting alongside experienced roasters, and eventually bought my first small sample roaster. Every step brought me closer to my vision: to honor my parents’ sacrifices, to carry forward my family’s heritage, and to share the story of our coffee with the world.
Today, as the founder of Romero’s Heritage Coffee Roasters in California, I am living that vision. For me, this work is more than roasting coffee it’s about preserving a legacy, uplifting the people of my hometown in Honduras, and proving that from hardship can come greatness. Every bag of Romero’s Heritage Coffee carries not just beans, but the resilience, love, and hope that define my journey.
